Our Story
American Fireplace Mantels began in 2002 with William Thad Page — not as a business plan, but as a necessity.
During one of the most difficult seasons of his life, Thad was diagnosed with leukemia and lost his job. With a young family to support and uncertainty ahead, he returned to the one skill that had always sustained him: woodworking.
With two sawhorses, an oak tree for shade, a pocket knife, and sandpaper, he began crafting fireplace mantels by hand. No shop. No machinery. Only determination, patience, and pride in honest work.
One piece of wood at a time, American Fireplace Mantels was built.
As the years passed, the work grew — and so did the hands behind it.
Today, Thad works alongside his sons, family by marriage, and a close circle of craftsmen who have learned the trade through years of working shoulder to shoulder. Some were raised in the shop. Others joined through family ties or friendship. All share the same respect for the craft and the responsibility of carrying it forward.
At Page & Sons, “sons” is not just a title — it’s a promise.
